Bringing together curatorial and design disciplines, Geremia Design describes itself as offering “a conduit between artists and designers.” The firm’s principal, Lauren Geremia, has a background in the fine arts that has helped differentiate her practice from other design studios in the Bay Area, where she’s based. Named one of Architectural Digest’s “Ones to Watch” and included in Forbes’ “30 Under 30,” Geremia graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design with a focus on painting, which explains her proclivity for artistic interiors. In recent years, she's found work in commercial interiors for notable tech companies, including Instagram, Dropbox and Path.

This multi-use live/work loft serves as living accommodations and a gallery/event space for a local artist in San Francisco. The building is a converted firehouse that’s been outfitted with a number of modern finishes and custom lighting solutions. Given that the homeowner entertains frequently, the open-floor plan remains adaptable. During social functions, the spacious environment facilitates mingling. As a domicile, the space caters to the resident's creative outlets, like music and painting.

Much of the furniture was designed in-house by Geremia and her team, although a color-coordinated set of Risom Side Chairs can be seen around an impressive, oversized dining table. “The Risom Side Chairs place our creative and unique pieces in context with design history,” Geremia said of the decision, “while adding color and warmth through the woven fabric details.”
