On July 16-18, the Information Technology Alliance (ITA) hosted a summer Internal Tech Leaders meeting focused on the next generation's workforce. The audience included all 28 of ITA's registered CPA firms and their respective Chief Information Officers. Kimberly Smith presented Knoll's white paper Immersive Planning, touching on the challenges that lay ahead of a continuously evolving workenvironment. Other topics covered included the future of the accounting industry, innovation in the financial and professional services sectors, and the power of diversity in business.
As the workplace becomes more flexible and open-planned in response to the shrinking square-footage of corporate offices, companies are having to re-think their office's layout in order to maximize productivity and transitively drive revenue. The latest planning solution from Knoll, Immersive planning, blurs the boundaries between work, life, and play. Workstyles have shifted from having a linear and hierarchical structure to having a complex, networked structure. Immersive planning creates a space that embraces a more complex social structure by offering versatile breakout rooms, benching that can be communal or private, mobile storage, and open conference rooms. All of this is also tied up in a new way of thinking about technology integration. Wireless, cloud-based servers, and mobile laptop docks have all become essential tools to facilitate the new generation's primary way of working: mobile. Knoll's latest collection of workplace furniture, Rockwell Unscripted, provides the tools that, when combined, create a truly, unique Immersive experience.
Additional speakers included Jim Power, CEO of Crowe Horwath LLP; Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, Global Accounting Strategy Director for Oracle; and Sandee Kastrul, President and Co-Founder of i.c. stars.
