Renowned architects and Knoll designers David Adjaye and David Rockwell speak at TimesTalks, The New York Times’ live conversation series that features influential figures in the fields of film and theater, art, music, literature, innovation and fashion. The speaker series, in collaboration with NYCxDesign as part of design month in New York, has, “provided a platform for engaging and spirited discourse among the most iconic and culturally relevant creative voices of our time, paying particular attention to those using the cultural arts as a lens for change.”
David Adjaye will discuss his vast array of work in the realm of architecture, from his design of the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. to his current project of The Studio Museum in Harlem. He will be joined by Thelma Golden, the director and chief curator of The Studio Museum. Adjaye and Golden’s conversation will be moderated by New York Times culture reporter Robin Pogrebin.
David Rockwell, known for his work merging architecture and theater to craft unique narratives through spaces, will be in conversation with the Cuban-American fashion designer Isabel Toledo. Rockwell and Toledo will discuss their many shared interests, from design to charitable causes such as the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) in a dialogue moderated by New York Times fashion director Vanessa Friedman.
Both Adjaye and Rockwell’s TimesTalks will take place on Friday, May 18th at the TimesCenter in West Midtown.
