The new Knoll San Francisco showroom, which opened in January at 140 New Montgomery in the city’s South of Market district, is featured on DesignCurial, the online community that delivers “the latest news, expert opinion and in-depth features” for “anyone with an interest in design, interiors, art and architecture."
The new showroom showcases workplace and residential furnishings from Knoll Office, KnollStudio and KnollTextiles as well as new designs from FilzFelt® and Spinneybeck®.
“Located near the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the showroom features “exposed masonry walls and concrete ceilings and columns were preserved to form an industrial backdrop to Knoll's collection of furniture and a new line of Irma Boom textiles,” comments DesignCurial.
Designed by the Knoll design team and Architecture Research Office, a fellow recipient of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award and recipient of a 2014 AIA Institute Award for the design of the Knoll New York Showroom, Knoll San Francisco occupies the 25th floor of a landmark office tower.
DesignCurial also praises the use of KnollTextiles “throughout the space to provide warmth and texture.”
Commenting on the space, the ARO design team said, “ARO's design reflects attention to craftsmanship and the use of Knoll's textiles through the space provides warmth and rich materiality.”
Felt panels from FilzFelt are also used to “demarcate break-out spaces and seating areas.” A range of Activity Spaces supplement primary workstations.
“The close collaboration between Knoll and ARO led to an interior where furniture and architecture work hand in hand, combining a modern aesthetic with the latest in workspace planning and technology,” concludes ARO.
