The October issue of Dwell, "15 Years of the Best Modern Homes," features the home of FilzFelt cofounder Kelly Smith and her husband Chris Grimley. The home includes a custom prototype mural by FilzFelt and designs by Jens Risom for Knoll.
The couple renovated their Boston apartment to open the flow of space and create an airy, flexible minimalism. The bright white interior is injected with a playful, modern moment: a "felt wall" showpiece in the children's room. FilzFelt created the tactile mural of CNC-cut felt triangles as a prototype–the company specializes in site-specific installations–and it creates a friendly, dynamic backdrop to the room.
Designs by Jens Risom for Knoll bring another layer of playful modernity to the space. The couple selected the Risom Child's Side Chair in a bright pop of red, and the Amoeba Table is just right for creative play.
