Forbes featured a profile of the renowned industrial designer Ross Lovegrove in its September 7, 2016, issue. As Forbes writes, Lovegrove worked as an in-house designer for Knoll International in Paris in the 1980s, when he played a major role in the development of the Alessandri Office System. Lovegrove also designed the company's playful take on the plywood stacking chair, known as the Sprite Stacking Chair(pictured at left), in 2004. In 2007, Lovegrove again designed for Knoll, this time with the Lovegrove Collection, a playful celebration of form and material. The collection includes the Lovegrove Round Table, Lovegrove Table Desk and Lovegrove Tri-Oval Table, which share an expressive base structure of bent tubing.
The piece begins: "Abhorring design that is superfluous, Welsh industrial designer Ross Lovegrove is a true advocate of an esthetic that combines depth and thoughtfulness with emerging technologies and new materials."
