Architectural Digest, the international design authority, debuted its September Style issue with Knoll classics taking center stage in its headlining stories. The cover, featuring fashion designer Michael Kors’ Greenwich Village apartment in New York City, highlighted several furnishings by Knoll, including both the Florence Knoll Lounge Collection and Barcelona Chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Kors selected a duo of Florence Knoll Lounge Chairs for an intimate, fireside sitting room. Additionally, the master sitting room features both a Florence Knoll Sofa upholstered in KnollTextiles wool and a Barcelona Chair to complete the look.
Across the Atlantic, Knoll is also the furniture of choice for Julie de Libran's, Sonia Rykiel Creative Director, strikingly urban and industrial Parisian loft. For her living room, French designer and architect Charles Zana chose a scheme of green and bronze accents with an emphasis on sculptural furniture. A Warren Platner Arm Chair, upholstered in a green velour and finished in gold, was an obvious selection for the space, which boasts innovation in material and symmetry.
Knoll 80th anniversary reimagined classics have also earned their well-deserved attention in this year’s September issues. The Risom Outdoor Collection, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s MR Chair in Rattan and Lucia Mercer’s sculptural Mercer Tables are among the noted designs. “Hans and Florence Knoll and their collaborators inaugurated a new era of integrated design that remains vital today,” stated Knoll Design Director Benjamin Pardo to LA Confidential, “Our vision is carried forward by the most talented contemporary designers to bring order and beauty to life and work.”
