For the 20th edition of Dining by Design, an annual fundraiser hosted by the Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA), Knoll teamed up with architecture and design firm Gensler to create a dining installation in which elements of the Knoll constellation converged to result in a stunning, graphic space. The display was on view from March 16 – 20 in conjunction with the Architectural Digest Design Show, held at Pier 92 in New York.
Designers from Knoll and Gensler worked with the theme “Fight for Life for Love” for the event, which grants funds to organizations that provide treatment, direct care services, preventive education programs and advocacy for individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Using a combination of Saarinen Tulip Stools, conference tables from DatesWeiser, pillows covered in KnollTextiles fabrics, and a vibrant, graphic wall design made of FilzFelt, the team created a deeply hued setup that evoked the courage of those involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
For the 2016 DIFFA Dining by Design, Knoll collaborated with the Rockwell Group on another graphic installation, featuring Piton Stools by Barber and Osgerby for Knoll and the drawings of New York-based artist Jon Burgerman. In 2015, Knoll worked with Gensler on setups that included Bertoia Side Chairs and Washington Skeleton Aluminum Chairs by David Adjaye for Knoll.
DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS is one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS service and education programs in the United States. DIFFA's 20th Annual Dining by Design brought together renowned talent to create dining environments, which set the stage for DIFFA's fundraising for work fighting HIV/AIDS.
