Knoll, Inc., of East Greenville, PA, is the 2016 recipient of the inaugural Linny Award in Excellence in Product Design. The award honors "a Lehigh Valley-based business or corporation for the quality, innovativeness and creativity of its goods and products," according to the Linny Award announcement.
The Linny Awards recognize creativity and support of the arts in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, and are announced by the ArtsQuest Foundation, which supports arts, culture and education programs in the region. The Linny Award is named for the late Marlene "Linny" Fowler, a dedicated supporter of the arts and who played a critical role in the establishment of the ArtsQuest Foundation.
The Linny Awards celebrate "the extraordinary artists, arts educators, businesses and philanthropists who live and work in the Greater Lehigh Valley," the foundation's website states.
Knoll, Inc. manufacturing has been based in East Greenville since 1941, when Hans Knoll established the first Knoll factory there, in a former dance hall. Knoll manufacturing continues in East Greenville to this day, and remains an industry leader in quality and sustainability. The Lubin Building facility in East Greenville is LEED® Gold-certified.
The first Linny Awards will be presented on November 10, 2016, at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. The event will support the foundation.
