Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget

When Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA), a multi-billion dollar consumer goods manufacturer specializing in paper goods, packaging solutions and solid-wood products, relocated its North American headquarters to downtown Philadelphia, it wanted to create a workplace that would not only mirror its leading position in the sector but also nurture future growth within the company. SCA approached the design group EwingCole with a request for a space that was both aesthetically tasteful and team oriented.

The Knoll AutoStrada® office system, incorporating both AS-1 spine-based and AS-2 storage-anchored planning models, was well suited to the large open plan of the main floor. The soft Sycamore and Anigre veneers are kept homogenous throughout the workspace in order to create a pleasing and coherent look. The collaborative nature of SCA also required a large amount of meeting space. One such conference room was outfitted with contemporary Life® task chairs. Finally, just as the economic future of SCA depends on replenished natural resources and a healthy environment, so obtaining LEED® certification for Commercial Interiors was another main concern of the project. The Knoll AutoStrada system, GREENGUARD™-certified for indoor air quality, played an important part in creating a healthy workplace for SCA.
