1966 Collection
Richard Schultz designed the 1966 Collection at the request of Florence Knoll who wanted outdoor furniture that could withstand corrosive ocean air. The 1966 Collection is regarded as the first modern outdoor furniture and has been the category standard ever since.
Richard Schultz
Richard Schultz was an integral part of the Knoll story, beginning in 1951 when he was hired to assist Harry Bertoia on the development and production of his wire chairs. This led to a position in the Design Development Group, where he designed many elegant collections for outdoor living—the first of which was designed for Florence Knoll’s seaside Florida home.
