Regarded as one of Spain’s leading designers, Jorge Pensi studied architecture in his native Buenos Aires before moving to Barcelona to establish his design practice, Grupo Berenguer, with Albert Lievore in 1977. While the studio focused on new designs for lighting and furniture, Pensi eventually becoming widely known for his fluid, elegant chair designs.
It was during this period, in 1988, that he designed the Toledo Chair and Table for the Spanish furniture manufacturer, Amat-3. Both designs were later adopted by Knoll. Winning multiple awards, including a First Place SIDI Selection, the Toledo chair embodies Pensi’s design aesthetic with its timeless quality and its ability to easily complement a broad range of surroundings.
