After earning his degree in architecture from Milan Politecnico, Franco Albini created an exciting career by bridging the fields of furniture, architecture, urban planning, and interior design. One of his early jobs was with famed Italian designer Gio Ponti, whose ability to combine traditional craft techniques and modern forms greatly influenced the designer.
As an important member of the Italian Neo-Rationalist architecture movement, Albini became known for his unique take on combining new forms of modernism with more traditional artisanship. Over his career, he created a portfolio of transparent furniture designs made with simple, raw materials. Albini was honored with the prestigious Compasso d’Oro prize three times.
