After months of anticipation, the Eero Saarinen-designed TWA Flight Center received its second life today as TWA Hotel. Knoll associates, led by Liz Needle, President KnollStudio, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony at John F. Kennedy Airport and experienced the reignited magic of the landmark space. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo delivered remarks on the project's economic contributions to the region and praised the revitalization of Saarinen's architectural icon.
In every detail of its design, the TWA Hotel honors Saarinen's aesthetic vocabulary. The interior, including the renowned Departures Hall, features the architect's groundbreaking designs for Knoll, all of which relate to the interior's organic design: the Pedestal Collection, Womb Chair and Executive Chair. Hotel guests and design enthusiasts can expect to experience the nostalgia of the jet age beneath the sweeping, elegant architecture. Enjoy our snapshots.
