Hawley Peterson & Snyder Architects

When architecture and design firm Hawley Peterson Snyder & Architects (HPS) relocated within Mountain View, California, the firm wanted to create an open, low-partitioned work environment that would not only support the collaborative work style of its employees but also capitalize on the location's expansive San Francisco Bay views. The firm was able to balance the latter with the functional requirements of an architectural practice and maintain an open line of sight for everyone on the floor. HPS selected the Knoll AutoStrada® office system for its ability to evoke a sense of openness while, at the same time, responding to a range of workplace needs.

AutoStrada AS-1 spine-based planning defines the open plan for individual and team-oriented work spaces. HPS specified linkable screens with windows and frameless glass add-up panels on the spine in order to maximize visibility and promote collaboration while, simultaneously, maintaining a sense of personal space. Workstations at HPS feature ample space for architectural drawings, plans and models, while Life® chairs provide ergonomic support. Finally, an AutoStrada spine wall creates a tactile backdrop to a lounge area with two Eero Saarinen Womb chairs and a Saarinen coffee table by KnollStudio®.
