Previously installed at the Boston Architectural College, Working Now: Exploring the Future of How and Where We Work is an exhibition of workplace research and design presented by Knoll and CI Select, currently on view on the first-floor concourse of @4240, a branch of large co-working spaces, in St. Louis, MO. Open through April 27, 2017, the exhibition explores the influence of startup culture and the experience economy as factors that contribute to the blurred boundaries between work, life, and play.
@4240 is a large co-working space that offers office and lab space that can be built out to tenant specifications. Much like the drivers behind the very subject of the exhibition, flexibility is one of the defining factors at @4240. Furthermore, the managing team believes being personally connected is critical in today’s business world, which they facilitate via a co-working space. An exhibition of Knoll’s latest office design is quite fitting given it offers a tangible glimpse at how to maximize flexibility within the workplace, and how that can ultimately connect more people.
Working styles are steadily shifting towards more collaboration in more causal office settings, prompting the need for a new “immersive” work environment that is both dynamic and flexible enough for the changing demands of its users. The exhibition highlights examples of workplace design that together, in conjunction with a recent study from Knoll, speak to the type of transformations of an office space that can engage and motivate its productive employees.
Along with the in-situ furniture systems, the exhibition features detailed infographics providing information about new workplace models and the stimuli behind them. Visitors can learn about and experience the staged environments by interacting with the furniture.
The exhibition Working Now: Exploring the Future of How and Where We Work will be on view until April 28, 2017 on the first-floor concourse at the @4240 Building, located at 4240 Duncan Avenue in St. Louis, MO. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
On April 13, 2017, Senior Director of Workplace Research Kylie Roth will present a lecture on immersive planning, discussing the drivers of the changing workplace and key solutions to enhancing productivity. The lecture will take place in the Havana Room at 4:30 pm.
