Kontor, the workplace design network, interviewed David Rockwell, founder and president of Rockwell Group, on June 10, 2016. The interview centered on Rockwell Group's expansive collection of workplace furniture for Knoll, which will be introduced at NeoCon 2016 in Chicago.
Rockwell Group, known for its work in hospitality and theater design, brought its understanding of immersive environments and experiences to designing spaces of work and "creating a sense of serendipity."
"In the workplace, you create things, and then you share them with people. There is a huge element of performance in that," David Rockwell commented. "We asked ourselves how an environment can allow someoone to both create and present."
Of working with Knoll, David Rockwell said: "They are great collaborators, because they don't prescribe a solution. The brief was wide open, although they knew they didn't want an office system, and they knew they didn't want us to design an iconic chair. Knoll has already checked those boxes."
Kontor also featured Rockwell Unscripted in a special NeoCon 2016 gallery on its site. The gallery, offering a glimpse into the Knoll NeoCon showroom, centered on the Rockwell Unscripted displays in the Immersive planning area of the showroom.
