First previewed at Salone del Mobile in April 2018, the Newson Aluminum Chair has caught the attention of industry insiders at NYCxDesign, New York’s annual celebration of design. Newson’s futuristic design honors the Knoll heritage of tubular steel furniture and is inspired by the reverse cantilever of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s 1928 Tugendhat Chair. The Newson Aluminum Chair has been honored by several industry organizations.
The Newson Aluminum Chair has won the Metropolis Likes NYCxDesign Award, honoring the best of design for the city-wide celebration. The diverse group of nominees, spanning categories from furniture to textiles to technology, demonstrate, “new thinking about materials, sustainability, user experience and interiors.” The winners of the Metropolis Likes NYCxDesign Award are selected by leading Metropolis editors.
Newson’s design for Knoll has also been honored by Interior Design and ICFF’s third annual NYCxDesign Awards. The award celebrates talent and innovation across fundamental areas of design, spanning furniture, architecture, lighting and technology. The winners of the NYCxDesign Awards will be announced Monday.
