Quartz, a digital outlet dedicated to change and evolution within business, interviewed Knoll Design Director Benjamin Pardo on his perspective for designing home offices and work chairs. As people continue to work from home, many workers struggle to find a proper chair to work from home. Anne Quito, Design and Architecture Reporter at Quartz, spoke with Pardo on his design and ergonomic expertise. “One of the lamentations of an office chair is that it always reminds you of work,” Pardo, who works from home in a Saarinen Executive chair, tells Quito, adding that consumers can carefully select color and fabrics to customize an aesthetic that works for them.
In addition, Pardo offered advice on how to design a home office with touches that harmonizes with an already residential design—simply consider the rest of the room. “You can use a print, a pattern or a plaid on the seat,” he suggests. “I won’t call it camouflage, but acclimatization to a more residential setting is always possible.”
