Introduced for the upcoming Summer months, the Risom Outdoor Collection has caught the eye of design aficionados and press alike. The Risom Collection, designed by Jens Risom and first introduced by Knoll in 1943, has an inherent spirit of versatility and functionality that has been honored and reimagined for outdoor use.
In their Summer 2018 issue, Interiors emphasized the reengineering of the iconic Modernist furniture collection for practical outdoor use, citing the Risom Outdoor Collection’s weather-resistant Sunbrella® webbing that won’t fade over time giving the furniture, “as much staying-power as Risom’s original 1943 design.” Interiors also welcomed the addition of the Risom Outdoor Ottoman and lauded the Risom Outdoor Collection as a seamless complement to any contemporary outdoor space and the Knoll portfolio of outdoor furniture.
Drawing from the rich heritage of the Knoll brand and deep history of the original collection, Editor-at-Large highlighted the resourcefulness and utility with which Jens Risom created the original Risom Collection in 1943, noting the weather-resistant teak wood and Sunbrella® fabric as a choice substitute for the original webbed parachute straps. Editor-at-Large also remarked that the Risom Outdoor Collection inherently honors the innovative simplicity and aesthetic vocabulary of the original collection while being functional for outdoor use.
In their May/June 2018 issue, Home & Design also featured the Risom Outdoor Collection as among the notable introductions to outdoor furniture for Summer 2018 and a wanted addition to contemporary outdoor spaces.
