In a March 16 post on mydomaine.com, Gabrielle Savoie, editor at MyDomaine, wrote, “When entering a meticulously designed living room, we feel it right away: the perfect proportions giving the space a certain grandeur, the plush seating drawing us in, each well-appointed seat suggesting long lazy afternoons spent without having to leave the living room." She refers to the great attention-to-detail that goes into creating an inspiring living space. Savoie spoke with noted designers Emily Henderson, David John Dick and Elizabeth Robertson about their recommendations for a well-designed living room.
The seven tips for designing a living space ranged from mixing periods and styles to proper spatial planning. The interviewed designers agreed that a space must incorporate furniture pieces fit for the conveniences of living. “The days of unused ‘sitting rooms’ and plastic-wrapped furniture are long gone,” writes Savoie. A tried and true classic, the Eero Saarinen Womb Chair proved exemplary of furniture meant for living, marrying beauty, comfort and function.
