Bloomberg Businessweek featured Pilot by Knoll™ in a feature on soft furniture for the workplace, published on December 3, 2015. The chair debuted in the United States at NeoCon 2015 in Chicago at the 2015 Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Currently, the chair is only available for purchase in Europe.
The British designteam Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby designed the chair for both office and home uses. Pilot is characterized by a strikingly slim profile and distinctive crane-shaped swivel base.
"When designing for a company like Knoll, one continuously wonders how to place new ideas into such an iconic collection," Barber & Osgerby said. "Our new Pilot chair not only responds to today's needs, but also offers an elegant, innovative design for a different culture."
The chair continues the design duo's collaboration with Knoll in the Barber Osgerby Collection of sofas, armchairs and ottomans.
KnollStudio introduced the Piton™ Stools and Side Table in the spring of last year, drawing inspiration from the height-adjustable stools common in mid-century sewing manufacturing.
