Colleen James, Director of Marketing, KnollStudio, has received the 2015 ANEW Champion Award for her leadership in corporate surplus stewardship. Named by the ANEW Foundation, the 2015 award recognized four recipients who are "true community partners and stewards of the earth," as Rose Tourje, ANEW Founder and President, wrote in the announcement. The first ANEW Champion Award was given on Earth Day in 2006.
Knoll partners with ANEW through Full Circle®, an exclusive resource recovery program dedicated to extending the life cycle of surplus furniture and materials in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible way. Through the project, Knoll has diverted more than 425 tons of used furniture and other items from landfill. Lou Newett, who co-founded the Full Circle® program, was the first recipient of this honor from Knoll.
Founded in 2005, ANEW is a non-profit organization that partners with companies to find sustainable solutions to corporate surplus through sustainable stewardship, including resale, recycling, repurposing and responsible donations to charities, non-porifts, public agencies and underserved communities.
